Saltmarsh
Finding us
Written on the assumption that you are arriving in the dark, in the rain.

By car
Leave the A1 at the Wickmere junction and follow signs for the harbour, not for the village — they diverge after the garage and the village road does not reach us. Quay Road is the last left before the water. We are the tall stone building at the end with no sign on it, because the conservation officer will not let us put one up.
Park anywhere in the harbour car park. It is free after six and we will give you a permit for the day rate if you are staying.
By train
Alnmouth is the nearest station, twenty-five minutes away. There is no useful bus. We will collect you if you tell us the train — this is not a formal service, it is one of us in a Volvo, and it is free.
Arriving
Check in from three. If you are going to be later than eight, ring, because after eight the front door is locked and one of us is in the kitchen. There is a key safe and we will give you the code.
The last half mile
Your satnav may try to take you along the sea road. Do not let it. It floods on a spring tide and it has caught out better drivers than us.
Reservations
We answer the telephone between eight and eight.
One of the four rooms is held back for people who ring rather than book online. If the calendar says we are full, it is still worth asking.
